How the National Medical Commission's certificate of good standing is applied for through your state council, the fees printed on NMC's form, and how long the certificate is valid.

- Authority
- The National Medical Commission issues the certificate, on the recommendation of the State Medical Council
- Who it applies to
- Registered medical practitioners. The form provides for the certificate to be sent to the applicant's own email or to a foreign council, country or authority.

- Application fee of Rs 2,000 + 18% GST — original demand draft, or the receipt for online payment
- Extra fee, if the certificate is to be sent abroad
- Application form, including every place worked in the last five years

- INR 2,000 + 18% GST (2,360) for a certificate sent to your own email; 8,900 including GST if it is to be sent to a foreign council, country or authority
As printed on NMC's application form, which is undated. The demand draft is drawn in favour of "The Secretary, National Medical Commission, New Delhi", payable at New Delhi. The fee is non-refundable.

- Processing time is not stated on the form. The certificate is valid for six months from the date of issue.

How the application travels
According to the instructions on NMC’s form:
- The application goes to the Commission through the Registrar of the State Medical Council you are registered with.
- If you are registered with more than one council, you give every registration number, date and council on the form, but forward the application through one of them.
- Doctors registered with the erstwhile Medical Council of India have an option to apply online, after creating an account in the doctor’s login on the NMC website.
- On the reverse of the demand draft, write your name, father’s name, the purpose of the draft, and a telephone number with email or mobile number.
What the council certifies
The State Medical Council’s recommendation on the form certifies two things: that the particulars you have given are correct according to its records, and that you hold current registration with it, with no disciplinary proceedings taken or in progress against you on that date.
Before you apply
The form advises checking your details in the Indian Medical Register data on the NMC website first. Any discrepancy is to be corrected through the State Medical Council.

- Certificates are digitally signed and sent by email.
- The certificate is valid for six months from the date of issue.
